Sunset on the Beach

I just realized how majorly I've been slacking on my blog posts in January! I guess it's taken me longer to get into the groove of this semester.

Today I've got a relaxing, yet beautiful manicure to show you.

A sunset on the beach scene. How I wish I was at the beach right now.

I started this beaut out with two coats of NYC Lexington Yellow.

Then using a make-up sponge I did a gradient of Maybelline Color Show Navy Narcissist, Milani Awesome Orange, and Lexington Yellow.

Then I painted on the shoreline and palm trees with Sinful Colors Time Off.

These nails remind me of home, and summertime. Missing both right now!

Happy Friday everyone, enjoy your weekends :)

Quilted Glitter Nails

I didn't tell you guys, but last week I broke one of my nails down to the nail plate. I had to chop the rest of my nails off too which I think my nails probably need sometimes.

But when my nails are so short I just don't feel inspired to do any nailart. I'm like a little kid pouting in the corner. So today I'm jumping back on the wagon.

Quilted nails are something I tried during my 10 Days of Nail-mas but they turned out super messy, so I'm really pleased with them this time around!

I started out with two coats of Milani Disco Lights. Then using striping tape I made my quilt design and painted on a coat of Sephora by OPI Casanova Is So Into Me.

Then you just remove the tape and viola, you have a beautiful quilted design. I like the extra glitz the glitter adds to this manicure.

This manicure is simple to do (it does take a bit of time to put the striping tape on though) and looks great!

Thanks for stopping in, I hope everyones enjoying their Martin Luther King Day!

Night Sky

The other day I was digging through the sale cosmetics at Walmart and I stumbled upon glow in the dark nail polish! Needless to say, I bought it and was super excited to do a manicure with it.

Let me just add that this was only $3, awesomeness!
This polish is called Pink Glow and is by Salon Perfect.

In the light, this polish is very sheer and is similar to a french manicure pink. I put on three pretty thick coats so I would get a nice light pink.

The polish by itself is super awesome, but I wanted to do a little more with it. So I decided to paint on some stars and a moon.

This is what my manicure looks like in the light. I used Stripe Rite Pink to paint on the stars and moon.

And now you'll have to excuse my pictures, I'm not a professional photographer so I don't have a DSLR camera. Because I was taking pictures in low light some of the pictures are a little blurry.

This is what my nails looked like in very low light. As you transition from light to dark, you start to get an almost radioactive glow.

And here are my nails in the complete dark! Aren't they lovely?!

I'm absolutely obsessed with this polish and I'm glad I decided to add my extra 'night sky' elements, it gives this manicure that extra oomph.

This polish is like most glow in the dark things and needs to be held in front light before it'll actually glow. 20 seconds in front of my lamp gave me a nice glow to take these pictures.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay on glow in the dark nail art?

Cupcake Nails

Today has been a looooong day, so you'll have to excuse my nail pictures, which all look almost identical except for the backgrounds.

I needed to do some fun nails to de-stress after today! So I chose to do cupcake nails, for the very first time.

These babies look good enough to eat, am I right?!

Recipe for Cupcake Nails: 2 coats of Revlon Gray Suede, a dab of NYC Lexington Yellow, four pink stripes of Stripe Rite Pink, dots of Lexington Yellow and Nina Ultra Pro Blu Blaze, dashes of Stripe Rite Pink, and a large dot of Rimmel London Stiletto Red. Finish off with topcoat, let dry, and enjoy!

There's something about dessert food manicures that I just absolutely adore. (Exhibit A: Donut Nails)

It's probably just the fact that I love dessert. And I love nail art. Two of my favorite things combined into one!

If you're looking for an easy, fun (and delicious) manicure, look no further!

Thanks for sticking with me through all my twin pictures! You're so lovely.

Roses Really Smell Like Poo

Currently jamming out to Outkast as I write this post!

I started getting antsy with my decals and ended up ripping most of them off (the rest came off with nail polish remover, so handy!), so I'm on to the next manicure.

I decided to just do a simple rose pattern. I've been wanting to do roses again for a while. I love the look of them!

Black polish is one of my favorite colors to wear, so I used two coats of Pure Ice Black Out as my base.

Then using a dotting tool, I put on some splotches of Revlon Raven Red. They don't have to be perfect dots, in fact, I think they look better if they're not.

To highlight the flowers I used my Stripe Rite Pink. For the leaves, I used my (new) Stripe Right Green.

Viola, easy and adorable nails!

Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend, I know I am :)

Cina Nail Art Decals and Polish Days

If you've never heard of Polish Days and you're a nail blogger, go check it out here.

If you're just hear to check out the nails, then welcome! I'm participating in Polish Days for the first time and the theme for today is try something new. So I decided to try out Nail Art Decals.

I am in love. Have been hit with cupid's arrow. If I could marry these nails, I would.

Now, I wasn't expecting to like nail art decals. As a matter of fact, I've been avoiding them. I thought they would look tacky. But these, they're gold. (Not the price of gold though, they were only $5!)

For my base, I used two coats of Wet n Wild Tickled Pink. I, of course, had to pair my black & white decals with pink polish.

You have to then wait for your polish to completely dry, otherwise the decals won't stick.

Once it's dry, you grab a decal with a tweezer and place it on your nail. They almost absorb into your nail, it's pretty cool actually.

I put a vintage filter on this picture because I liked the look of it. Don't judge me.

To keep the decals firmly in place (and make them last longer), I sealed them in with a coat of Seche Vite.

And for once my right hand turned out just as good as my left! Two thumbs up for nail decals.

I might be M.I.A. for a few days because I love these way too much to take them off prematurely. Don't fret though. While I'm away you can check out my fellow bloggers that participated in Polish Days:

Shine Bright Like A Diamond

DISCLAIMER: I do not like Rihanna. Or not that song. It just happened to be the perfect title for this post.

So I went to Sally's on Friday and they had a bunch of Holiday polishes/nail wraps for sale. Naturally, I bought things I didn't really need. Gotta love after Christmas sales.

Example #1 of something I didn't really need. But I really wanted it, so it's kind of the same thing, right!?

I had to do a manicure that used these beautiful holo glitter polishes. I was especially feeling the silver, which is strange because normally I'm such a gold girl, but I ran with it.

This was the end result. Pink & silver diamonds, could there be anything greater in life?

I started out with a base of China Glaze Immortal (also a sale item I picked up).

I've been desperately needing a gray polish. I really like this one because it has some shimmer too it, but it's still a nice, dark gray.

After Immortal, I laid on the China Glaze Glistening Snow.

I love holo glitter. Almost more than I love regular holo polishes. I could've easily left these and been a happy camper, but I wanted to give you all a little more to gaze at.

So I got out my Stripe Rite Pink (a favorite of mine if you haven't noticed).

I thought diamonds were the perfect design for this sparkly gray polish. I originally did them in black, but I didn't like the way they turned out so I went back and did them in pink.

This picture is blurry, but it shows off how sparkly and pretty the holo glitter actually is!

My thumb is definitely my favorite nail! The diamond turned out the cleanest.

Wish me luck tomorrow on my first day back to classes this semester!

My Gold Plated New Year's Nails

Happy New Year's everyone! I hope everyone had a great time celebrating the beginning of a new year.

I decided to bring in the New Year with a manicure I've been wanting to try for a while.

A gold plated glitter nail! This is definitely one of the more tedious manicures, but it looks so good.

I began this manicure with 3 coats of a nameless white Love & Beauty polish. (How has this polish lasted me so much longer than my Julep white polish?!)

Now comes the work.

I painted on horizontal strips of topcoat and using a dotting tool, put each piece of glitter on individually.

It took for-ever.

I bought the tube of glitter from Michaels for $2. I think it'll last me the rest of my life!

These nails almost remind me of a disco ball or something. I'm really diggin' them.

So shiny and pretty !

Thanks for dropping in :)
