Tribal Teal

So I realized the other day that I've never done tribal nails before.

These aren't what you would call traditional tribal nails. I think they've got a little Egyptian type flare to them.

Now I know everyone knows how much I love pink. But have I told you how much I love teal?! Because I do. And everyone loves gold, obviously.

I started these babies out with two coats of Julep Daphne.

I guess that this color is more of a summery color, but who cares! I'm wishing it was summer right about now.

Anyways, I added a gold strip down the middle with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Golden. I just used the polish's brush for this since it didn't need to be perfect.

To make the "tribal" pattern I used Sinful Colors Time Off. I just outlined the gold, did zigzags, and added some dots.

I'm really pleased with how these turned out. They're very elegant and beautiful!

I'm going to try to start posting more so don't give up on me just yet.

Glittery Red and Pink Cheetah Print

The nails I'm going to show you today I'm not too crazy about. They're a little too eccentric for me, but I've gotten a couple of compliments on them, so I decided to post them anyways!

I started this manicure out with two coats of China Glaze Angel Wings. (Has anyone caught on how obsessed I am with this polish yet?!)

Then using a dotting tool, I put on some blobs of Revlon Raven Red. Then I outlined the blobs and added some squiggles and dots using Stripe Rite Pink.

I kind of wish that I would've used normal cheetah print colors for this manicure, but hey, you live and you learn!

My first ever cheetah nails are still my favorite cheetah print that I've done. Maybe I'm just being too much of a perfectionist now.

Any opinions on these funky cheetah nails?

Accidental Awesomeness

I just realized it's been a week since I've posted! February's been a busy month for me.

I did these nails a couple of days ago. They were supposed to be a completely different pattern but I guess I didn't plan them out too well! Despite this, I still think they turned out good.

Some people have called them flowers, some just called them a cool pattern. I'd go more with the second one, but either way, I like the look of them!

This manicure started out as two coats of Pure Ice Black Out.

The dots were done using a dotting tool and Nina Ulta Pro Blu Blaze, NYC Lexington Yellow, and Love & Beauty Blue.

Now that I've tried this pattern out (and failed, but in a good way) I think I have more of a handle on how to do the original manicure I was going for.

Stay tuned to check out what these nails were supposed to look like!

Happy Mardi Gras!

Today's Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday.

In an effort to avoid studying last night, I did some festive, wild nails to celebrate the occasion.

This mix-and-match manicure is far from what I normally do. I do mostly uniform nails because that's what I'm comfortable. But hey, you're not living until you're outside your comfort zone!

The polishes I used for this manicure were NYC Lexington Yellow, Revlon Posh, Maybelline Color ShowAmethyst Ablaze, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Golden, Nina Ulta Pro Pretti Pink, and Milani Art of Gold.

I also used green, red, gold, and purple microbeads as an accent for the crown on my ring finger and representing beads on my middle finger.

Even though this manicure is unlike the manis I normally do, I really love it! It's so fun and festive.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mardi Gras and stuffs themselves with delicious treats!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Valentine's Day Nails Take Two

So I realized that my other Valentine's day nails I posted last week may have been a little premature.

But now Valentine's Day is only 3 days away so in an attempt to be festive and not bitter that I still don't have a Valentine I've got another lovey dovey manicure to show you!

To start this manicure, I applied two coats of Revlon Gray Suede.

Using a dotting tool, I made rows of dots with Sinful Colors Easy Going. Then I took the smaller end of the dotting tool and layered the large dots with smaller ones using Stripe Rite Pink.

For my accent nail, I painted a heart with the same pink and very carefully applied red microbeads using a dotting tool dipped in water.

The microbeads got a little messy because I got the dotting tool too wet a couple of times and flooded my nail with water, but overall I think this mani still turned out pretty cute.

Microbeads can be pain to work with and a pain to wear but I do love the accent they can add to a mani!

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day whether you're going out on a hot date or just spending time with people you love :)

A Change in Seasons

Today I'm participating in my second Polish Days! The theme this time was back to nature.

Since we're at that stage between Winter and Spring, I decided to try to symbolize that change in season.

They're supposed to be leafless trees. I gave them a warm background to give them a Spring feel.

I started out with two coats of Sinful Colors Easy Going. Then I did a gradient using Julep Lynn, Sephora by Opi Casanova Is So Into Me, Love and Beauty Purple, and Maybelline Color Show Amethyst Ablaze.

To draw the trees I used Sinful Colors Time Off.

I'm not too crazy about these nails, I think they turned out okay, but I could've done better. I did like how my thumb turned out though.

They're definitely different!

What do you all think? By the way check out all the other nails done for Polish Days:

Valentine's Day Heart Nails

It's February, which means that Valentine's Day is right around the corner!

Today I decided to do some heart nails in an effort to be festive.

I started out this manicure with two coats of China Glaze Angel Wings.

It's another holo glitter that I got along with China Glaze Glistening Snow (which can be seen in this post).

Then I just taped off stripes with striping tape and painted on Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Twisted Pink. My stripes turned out a little messy but I didn't mind.

For the heart, I cut out a heart shape in a piece of scotch tape and painted over it. Also didn't turn out completely perfect, but I kind of like it better that way!

Then I outlined the heart in Stripe Rite Pink to make it pop.

I'm pretty much in love with this manicure. Gold and pink are two of my favorite colors!

Now, who wants to be my Valentine? :)
